Privacy policy

Effective November 3, 2026

This policy covers the apps and services made by LangAdventure, LLC, and this website. The short version: we collect as little as we can, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.

What we collect

This website keeps the ordinary server logs any website keeps, such as the address of the page you asked for and the time. It has no accounts, no forms and no advertising trackers. This website, Melody Reader, Melody Adventure and the LangAdventure game count use with our own analytics.

Your browser or app gets a random id that isn't linked to you. It is stored on your device, not in a cookie. It is replaced with a new one after at most 13 months, and deleted when you turn analytics off. We record which page or screen you opened and when, roughly what kind of device it is (phone, tablet or computer), its language, a screen size band and the site that sent you there (websites), and the platform (iOS or Android) and app version (apps). We also count when you click our email address.

Each product adds a little. In Melody Reader we also record which exercises you start and finish, and your score. In Melody Adventure we record which levels and rounds you start and finish, your stars and score, and whether you played with the on-screen keys, a MIDI keyboard or the microphone. In the game we record the rounds you play and how they went, what you gather and build, and the stages you reach.

We never record your IP address, your browser's identifying string, anything you type, the notes you play, a keyboard's name, audio, your location, your contacts or an advertising id.

Apps

Melody Adventure has no account or ads. Its fonts are bundled and its only network use is the analytics described above, sent to our collector. Settings, progress, streaks, bests and practice history stay on your device. The optional microphone is off by default. If you turn it on in Settings or choose Mic before a level, the app asks for permission and listens to notes you play on an acoustic piano to check them. Audio is analysed on your device as it arrives; it is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere. Optional Bluetooth connects only to a MIDI keyboard you choose, through the system's Bluetooth MIDI sheet on iPad or an in-app picker on Android 12 or later that doesn't use location. USB MIDI key presses are used to play on your device and aren't stored beyond the practice results. Deleting the app removes all of its stored data.

The LangAdventure game has no account or ads. Its save stays on your device, and its only network use is the analytics described above. Deleting the app removes its save.

If you email us, we keep the email so we can answer it.

If you work for LangAdventure and sign up for our staff text alerts, we keep your mobile number and when you signed up.

How we use it

To make the app work, to keep it working, to answer you when you write to us, and to send staff text alerts to the staff who asked for them. We don't use what we collect to build advertising profiles, and we don't sell it.

Who we share it with

Only the services needed to run this site or an app, each named here with what it handles, and the law where we are required to. Today that is the company that hosts this website, which sees the same server logs we do, and Twilio, which delivers our staff text alerts and so handles the numbers they go to and the messages. Analytics from the websites and apps pass through Google Cloud, which hosts the collector, on their way to our own systems. Apple and Google distribute the app and handle purchases made through their stores under their own policies. Melody Adventure has no in-app purchases, and the game has none either.

Text messages

We use a mobile number given for staff text alerts only to send those alerts. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

The staff text alerts page says how to sign up and how to stop, and links to the program's terms.

How long we keep it

This website's logs are kept for no more than 90 days. Analytics events are kept for 13 months, then deleted. Emails are kept while there is something to follow up on. A mobile number for staff text alerts is kept while you get them, and no longer than 90 days after you reply STOP or leave. Melody Adventure's and the game's data stays on your device until you delete the app; deleting it removes that data.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email website@langadventure.com and we will reply within 30 days. Where an app has an account, deleting it from inside the app does the same thing. Turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser stops analytics on this website and Melody Reader.

You can also turn analytics off in each product. On this website, use the switch on this page. In Melody Reader and Melody Adventure, turn off Share usage data in Settings. In the LangAdventure game, turn off Share usage data in the Settings sheet behind the gear on the map. Turning it off deletes the id and anything not yet sent from your device.

Because analytics aren't linked to you, we can't find your events from your name or email. What was already sent stays anonymous and is deleted after 13 months. The switch applies only to langadventure.com; Melody Reader is another site with its own switch.

Children

Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us some, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change matters to how an app treats your data, the app tells you.
